Book is out of date. IMPORTANT: the Biographic Information Questionnaire (third section) of the FSOT was removed in October 2017 and replaced with a Situational Judgement section. This book has NOT been updated to reflect that. It is accurate for the first 2 sections of the FSOT, however.

Average study guide. It is a quick read, and the pretest and practice test contain questions that you can find on the DOS app or several practice FSOT websites. The most useful section, in my opinion, is the information regarding the biographical portion of the FSOT. I haven't been able to find a similar section elsewhere, and while we cannot evaluate the answers, the author presents it as a good opportunity to reflect on your personal and professional pursuits and successes - identifying areas in which you can strengthen in the process.Overall, it is just an average study guide that is worth the small price for the Kindle version.

I bought the Kindle edition, and to say the least, I was very disappointed.First of all, the multiple choice questions are numbered, but the answer key is in letter format. Secondly, there are quite a few inconsistencies in many of the questions - some are subjective, and others are just flat-out incorrect.I wouldn't recommend this.

Useful because of the pre-practice test and the practice test, but it has a few errors. Example: it'll ask what the Truman Doctrine was and the correct answer is that it was meant to stop communist advances in the world, but the book has the wrong letter in the multiple choice answer key. Additionally, it claims there are 75 questions for the Biographical Information section, but I see the numbers skip questions 64 to 74. There are 65 questions when the test is supposed to have 75. It goes 1, 2, 3...64,73,74,75.

This book is a complete joke. Nothing but a one and a half complete example of exams questions. The rest is just interpretation with very superficial guidelines pointing to other links. There are also lots of inaccuracies when describing the FSO tracks as well as the Language Test.This book is very inaccurate, superficial and poorly written. I wouldn't bother to buy it anymore and mine will be given away to charity.. Not even worth keeping it.

This is a no-fluff test prep book that covers far more than the hundreds of pre-test questions necessary to prepare for one of the hardest exams you’ll ever take. It is not only well-written and engaging, but the author clearly comes across as an expert in his field. I would call him a “coach” in his approach to writing this book.What impressed me most with The Complete FSOT Study Guide is that the author walks through a full picture of what to expect leading up to the process of passing the exam, with chapter after chapter giving valuable examples of what I could do to increase my chances of passing. Since only 10% of those who take the test actually make it to the finish line to become an FSO (for various reasons), I’d do whatever I could to increase my chances.If you’re serious about passing the exam, you’ll need to heed the author’s warning that this is not a walk in the park. He’ll take you through a serious of questions and situations to make sure something in your past won’t prevent you from moving forward. He’ll tell you what you need to do to increase your chances of passing the medical and security clearances. Most importantly, he’ll bring up stories of applicants who thought they had a clean slate only to find that one relationship or medical incident kept them from passing the background check. By the way, those are the most interesting chapters to read. The author is quite engaging with the reader. Then get ready to tackle the next step: choosing the career track.The author outlines the 5 different career tracks in great detail, not just with general job descriptions, but with behind-the-scenes, “step into this guy’s shoes” expectations of each role. You probably already know what you want to do, but I would read through this carefully to make sure it’s truly what you want.Skipping ahead… the QEP section explains how the panel will judge you. The book offers an entire “what to expect” when taking the oral assessment, the group exercise, the structured interview and the case management writing exercise. Don’t rush though this chapter because again, you’ll be coached on what to expect, and what the evaluators are looking for in your answers. Prepare for plenty of mental strategy when prepping for this part…the author talks you through that, with a conversational hot seat to give you an idea.With that, we’re only 25% of the way through the book. The rest of the book continues on with links to forums and other resources online for practice, tips to help you maximize your study time with content consumption for best memory retention, and how to earn selection bonus points. You can skip the chapters you know well and dig in where you need the help.The practice pre-test questions make up a good 50% of the book. The questions are complete, relevant, and the answers at the end give you detailed explanation to the reason for the answer.Reading this book won’t guarantee you’ll pass the test, (just like hiring a fitness coach won’t guarantee a 6-pack) but this author writes like a coach to encourage you, challenge you, and give you the edge you need to tackle this test. I highly recommend it.

A MUST buy for the FSOT. Well written and tells it how it is. I couldn't put the book down and it gives you SO much knowledge that you wouldn't even know to ask. It also tells you what is essential and what is a nice to have. This guy is great and I really appreciate him taking the time to write this book. Thank you! It's also reasonably priced! Best prep I've had for the FSOT by a long shot!

I can't wait to try out these Mad Libs on the Word Nerds class I will be teaching for our homeschool co-op in the fall!Mad Libs are the BEST for teaching basic parts of speech and having fun at the same time.Once, on a snow day, the local neighbor boys came over. We started playing Mad Libs and one of them said, "Wait? Is this SCHOOL?""Are you having fun?" I asked him in return."Yes, so it can't possibly be school!" He exclaimed.Mad Libs makes learning fun. Now if I could only figure out how to make Social Studies this fun...

This has helped increase my 6 year old daughter's interest in reading by herself. I also let her bring it to places that I need her to stay quite & occupied (think church when there's no children's service available). It's also fun for the whole family to do as an after dinner silly time.Delivery was timely. No issues with the vendor or product quality.

If you don't know what Mad Libs is, it's a story that has blanks. Each blank has the part of speech that must be written in to complete the story. The twist is that you ask another person for the words based on the part of speech without them knowing the story. When it's read back, it can be dry, silly, or rolling hilarious. It's a great way to help children to recognize parts of speech, agreement, conjugation, and singular vs plural. I copy the pages while blank and have them do one at different times, or I make them give me all nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc at once. It's new every time.

My 4th grade reading students ask for this. They are learning parts of speech in an enjoyable way.

Mad Libs are always great for fun and learning for the whole family. Do you have any little budding scientists in the house?

Total hit with my 10 yo nephew! I remember these as a kid and was happy to introduce them to the next generation.

I wouldn't order again. They don't make sense. poorly written - when we add nouns and verbs, adjectives and adverbs, they really don't make sense at all. Feel like they were better when I was little.

Interesting dialect, post apocalypse or anyway post-collapse Toronto. A bad man and his mistreated woman, repeated generationally until the end player takes up the challenge to break the cycle. I really tried to enjoy reading this work but the sheer level of well-plotted gore was off-putting. There simply wasn't enough character in each key character to hold interest in the grisly, simplistic plot. I could envision the characters splayed across the action grid so the key points could be achieved, but never managed to find enough points of commonality with any of them to connect, empathize, or even sympathize with any of them. A nasty bunch of thugs existing in a cesspool of humanity stirred with voudou symbolism and the personalities of the after world that the spiritual practice recognizes. Really, a bunch of gods rush in to save the day? If not for the dialect an entirely forgettable and tiresome read, much hullabaloo about not much here.

Brown Girl in the Ring by Nalo Hopkinson has a very strong impact on its subject matter. It is a book that shows strength in women and shows how sometimes the man needs to be saved and that women can help each other all on their own. This book combines science fiction and real life Carribean culture into one story to hit many topics that resonate with many different people. The main character is a woman protagonist who fights through fear to save the ones she loves; this idea sticks with other young women that they do not need anyone to save them. The science fiction aspect relates to fans of this genre and gives them something they are interested in and also teaches important messages. Another big impact is the Caribbean culture; people under the Caribbean title will be strongly impacted because it is something we do not see too often that they can relate to and people of non--Caribbean culture may be impacted by learning more about the beliefs of others as I was while reading.My personal opinion of this book is that it is a great, fairly quick read. This book has something for everyone in it. When I first began reading I was quite skeptical and did not think I would find any pleasure from reading this book but I was soon proved wrong. Before long, I could not put the book down!Academically, I think this book hits on a lot of hot topics, themes, and genres that could be applied to many different teaching lessons. Female empowerment, culture, science fiction, and the importance of family make up the big parts of this novel, Each of those topics, alone and combined, send powerful messages that could be used in many different teaching opportunities.I would absolutely recommend this book to any and all people considering it. Hopkinson really wrote this book for a wide audience and I believe it has a lesson to teach everyone. This book is intriguing and will suck you right in before you know it. After beginning, you will not be able to put it down.

My 3rd Nalo book, and I'm pretty set to say that she is one of the best SFF writers. Brown Girl in the Ring felt more like a dystopian/ urban fantasy mash up, but it didn't fail to make me long for the Caribbean. Even with the setting of Toronto, the Caribbean vibes were present. I didn't, however, like the heroine, Ti-Jeanne.

Brown Girl in the Ring is not the typical Sci-Fi novel, but it still brings a lot to the table. Besides its modern urban decay setting, this novel also addresses issues like feminism and ethnicity. Brown Girl in the Ring is also an award-winning novel. The book has really changed my perceptions of what Sci-Fi novels can be. I really enjoyed this novel; Nalo Hopkinson does a great job creating an alien setting in the familiar city of Toronto. I thought I would be lost with all the African mythology since I was not familiar with it. The mix of African mythology and urban decay created a very interesting storyline. After reading Brown Girl in the Ring, I’m interested in reading some of Hopkinson’s other novels. I would suggest researching African mythology and deities as you read along in the book, I found it helpful to do so. Hopkinson also uses a lot of medical terminology throughout the novel, which gives it a scientific edge. We don’t learn much about our characters, but it’s refreshing to see a novel focus on a female protagonist.I would definitely recommend Brown Girl in the Ring to other readers, it isn’t a difficult read nor is it a very long book. It’s a novel for anyone, from young women to the old school Sci-fi enthusiast.

I must admit that when I first started this book, it was a little confusing with the multiple characters and names being thrown at me so quickly and with little background on who they were. Also, I'm not a fan of spirits and magic or voodoo- whatever is the most appropriate term. So I had some doubts. However, my doubts disappeared by Chapter 2. The action took off early and kept me hooked for the rest of the journey. The plot was filled with nice twists and surprises, and the Caribbean magic and ceremonies, and spirits that Ti-Jeanne became embroiled with, all added a spicy, authentic flavor to a well-written and thoroughly drawn storyline. Unusual and interesting. I started reading at around 7pm on a Saturday, went to sleep for a few hours and finished the book about 10am Sunday morning. It's been a long time since I finished a book that fast. This was my first Nalo Hopkins read. Very thrilling and refreshingly abnormal author.

I absolutely loved this book. Every one of the characters popped, the pacing was spot on, and I absolutely loved the magic/religion was based on Voodou. There is nothing about this book I didn't adore!

I have been on a quest for books by female sci fi writers and I couldn't have found a more perfect work of art! Nalo seamlessly transported me to a dystopic world full of Caribbean magic and lore! I recommend this book to anyone just wanting to vacay to another time and place!

I give this book 5 stars for the content of the book. John Flavel is one of the easiest puritans to read and what he writes is wonderfully soul encouraging and uplifting and practical. I have been greatly blessed and challenged reading through this book - still have a little way to go to finish - but I look forward to every opportunity to read a bit more.With regards to Kindle. Yes the book has an active table of contents but that's it. Once in a chapter you cannot jump to the next or previous chapter - you have to page through.But it would be great loss to pass over this writer (John Flavel) just because the Kindle is not top class - to content of the book is well above top class and you will find any diamonds and blessings in taking the trouble to read it. Highly recommended.

This six volume set is wonderful. It is a vital part of any religious studies student's collection, along with Matthew Henry's Bible Commentary set. It is amazing how much clarity the scholars of the 17th and 18th centuries had in matters of the Faith. Far more than many so-called "experts" in theology today.Among the collected works in this set is the seminal title, "Preparations For Suffering". And I believe every Christian should read this particular piece. It should be required reading because it speaks to the heart of the reality that Jesus taught, that true Christians may very well be thrust into a hostile environment and should be prepared to undergo the tribulations of such things.But, too, suffering is not always at the hands of another. Oftentimes, life itself, the circumstances into which we are born, will present challenges through which we will suffer. Whether internal or from external sources, suffering should not be seen as something we must avoid...not in every case.If more pastors and preachers taught with the wisdom and understanding of these earlier faithful servants in Christ, there surely would be less confusion about what Christianity really is supposed to embody for the believer. As it is, we have the Brian McLarens, Tony Campolos, Leonard Sweets and others who are currently attempting to upend what it is to be a true Christian, even claiming we have it all wrong because of our Greco-Roman way of thinking. Such "Conversations" only serve to further destroy the heart and soul of the Faith, that we are sinners unworthy of redemption except for the saving grace and blood of Christ.If you love the "happy, shiny Jesus" kind of preaching you're getting at church today, you won't like these works. Volumes such as Flavel's, Henry's and others, such as Whitefield, Mahan, Edwards, et al, will always serve the growing believer and bolster their faith in a loving God who brooks no rebellion, but forgives all rebellion in the contrite and humble heart of the sinner who comes to believe in and welcome into their lives the God of all Creation, Christ Jesus: Messiah, Saviour and Lord of Lords, King of kings and the only true Prince of Peace.

Husband is reading through this since it is one of the books recommended for gaining insight on working with those who are hurting. He keeps coming to me to read me passages from it. It is so lovely to read the words of a Christian believer written 400 years ago who took his relationship with the Lord this seriously.
