Love the DK Travel Guides...the only bummer about this guide is that there isn't one for the Southeast Asian region as a whole, so also have to buy a separate one for Thailand, separate for Thailand's beaches, separate one (if available) for the rest of Cambodia, etc. - can't please everyone or get everything everyone wants to see in one book, but for people who would like to see the highlights of Southeast Asia overall, it would be nice to have what the DK Eyewitness people see as the most significant. They're heavy, so while I don't mind the amount of information, they're a little on the pricey side when you need to buy several and I definitely don't want to pack several for a vacation (and I say that as someone who checks bags, so it's not like it's using up space/weighing down my backpack). The images are great, though, high quality paper and very informative since I know very little about the region. I enjoy the brief and concise history as I can just pick it up at any point and am able to put it down shortly thereafter if necessary, i.e. while cooking, waiting rooms, etc. It's also helped narrow down what really interests us - people often say to visit certain cities but not why. We're not shoppers, so to find that one city is basically only shopping kept us from wasting time there and allows us to add a different city to the itinerary.
The book covered all of Vietnam. If you’re traveling all over the country and this is the book for you. If you were looking for a specific region I would recommend finding a book that is unique to that region.
Very much lacking in history and historical reference or information on the political and social scene for most of the spots but useful if you want shopping, dining tips.Could use walking tours and individual maps for particular areas.
Excellent resource. Plenty of information, tips and ideas. Good photos and plenty of maps.I visited Vietnam and Cambodia so this was perfect.
Not as good as other DK eyewitness guides. I would like to see more detail on Vietnam but instead DK has a section on Angkor Wat which is well covered in other guides.
My favorite travelling book series. This did not disappoint just like just e my previous purchases.

I like the contents and photographs. My only complaint is that the text is too small for my old eyes. Will need to read it with magnifying lens.
