As a former police officer, I really enjoyed Vic’s stories. As they say, the truth is stranger than fiction.I was, however, distracted by the very poor editing. The book is loaded with incorrect homonyms (your when you’re is the correct word, etc.) and grammatical errors. I suspect that Vic self-published his book and so did not have the advantage of a professional copy editor to help with these types of issues with his manuscript.That issue aside, this is a great, light-hearted look inside the NYPD by a detective who knows what’s what. Buy it and enjoy!

Vic Ferrari once again through his great storytelling skill brings the stories and mishaps into paper form. His outlook on life of "Dickheads and Debauchery: and Other Ways to Die" had brought out the truth to life situations that we all face. Now the veteran detective brings his new outlook on funny stories of law enforcement for your reading pleasure. It's not "War and Peace" but a great book to put a smile on your face and couple of stories within to make you look at life differently. Good Job Vic and hope for you to put together a good crime drama with all your expertise and stories, it would probably hit the NY Times Bestseller list.
Great book. Funny stories. Can't wait for his next book....maybe in his next book he will discuss how he was dragged around the ghetto in the pouring rain.....while sick as a dog. This book is a testiment to the theory that the more unbelievable a story sounds....the more likely it is true. Remember it is never too far to back a cop up.
I enjoyed this book. I can’t imagine being a police officer let alone in New York City. I would be scared to death. I admire men and women who can do this. I worked as a psych nurse and know how crazy people can be. I will most likely read another one of his books.
I am a native New Yorker and have read a lot of books about the NYPD. This one of the best! The author gives a straight forward look at the NYPD and doesn’t spare anyone. I have to say that this is really great fun. Vic Ferrari’s stories are hilarious and moving.Vic, please write another book about NYC and the truly great PD!
I enjoyed this book so much that I had to pace myself or I would have read the entire thing in one sitting. Some of Vic’s stories were so funny that I actually found myself laughing out loud. I am so glad I splurged on the paperback so that I can pass it on to my friends. One of thebest books I have read in a long time. I can’t wait for Vic’s next masterpiece!!!
A very humorous behind the scenes look at the NYPD. It also demonstrates the very dark sense of humor that many police officers have and use as a coping mechanism to deal with the stress of the Job.
This book brought back many memories of growing up in Queens, where I watched the n.y.p.d. on many occasions deal with crime in my hood.Reading this book gave me a view of what was going on behind the scenes then and anyone that works for a bureaucracy will relate to some of these stories.The bottom line is police work is no easy job!
